Brief Description:  This is a review and presentation of research data showing the effect of radiused phaco tips (Dewey tips) on phacoemulsification and capsular breakage during cataract surgery. Tip size, phaco power, elliptical, torsional, and longitudinal motion were all evaluated for risk of capsular breakage. These parameters were also evaluated with regard to chatter and phaco efficiency. Recommendations are made for best parameters for safety and efficiency during phacoemulsification.

The effect of crosslinking therapy on ectatic disorders and other conditions for which crosslinking is indicated is presented. The complications and ongoing research on crosslinking are also preseted here. A specific case is presented showing improved visual acuity and manifest refraction in a young patient with keratoconus.
